PIKE COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO 30 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON

FEBRUARY 3, 2024 – written by WADE QUEEN

CHILD PORN SEX CREEP GONE FROM SOCIETY UNTIL AT LEAST THE YEAR 2054, AND GOING TO BE IN FEDERAL PRISON: BILL DANEIL COMBS, 39, OF PIKEVILLE, KENTUCKY; WAS SENTENCED TO 30 YEARS LAST WEEK BY A FEDERAL JUDGE AFTER PLEADING GUILTY IN OCTOBER 2023. HE COULD STILL BE FACING A KENTUCKY COMMONWEALTH STATE TRIAL, SCHEDULED FOR THIS APRIL, WHICH IF HELD, WILL MEAN MORE YEARS IN A STATE PRISON.

One Pikeville man received a 30-year prison sentence last week in a federal case involving child sexual assault materials.

An indictment by a federal grand jury was filed on February 23, 2023 charged Bill Daniel Combs, 39, of Pikeville, KY., with one count of producing child sexual assault images and one count of possessing child sexual assault images.

The federal indictment came about from the same original case after the Kentucky State Police arrested Bill Combs in Pike County on June 16, 2021, and he was later indicted by a Pike County grand jury for possession of child porn, promoting a sexual performance by a minor, prohibited use of an electronic communications system, and persistent felony offender (he had recently been paroled the year before in 2020, after serving time in a state prison) in Pike County Circuit Court.

That state case against Bill Combs is set for trial this upcoming April, but it is unclear if it will proceed following his guilty plea sentence in U.S. federal court.

Bill Combs was said to have coerced a 13 year-old girl into sending him sexually explicit photos of herself, after days of messaging her on Facebook Messenger.

A plea agreement was reached October 12, 2023, with Bill Combs pleading guilty to the production charge and the federal court dismissing the second charge of possession.

A judgment was filed by U.S. District Judge Danny C. Reeves in U.S. federal court in Pikeville in late January, sentencing Bill Combs to 360 months; or 30 years, in federal prison, and 10 years supervised release after that time is served.

Bill Daniel Combs will remain at the Pike County Detention Center in Pikeville until he is assigned to a federal prison to serve out his sentence.
