The Kentucky State Police are continuing their investigation into a deadly house fire scene where three people were found deceased, but not likely from the flames. The bodies revealed they had suffered gunshot wounds instead, investigators said. The sene is in the smallest county in the state, Robertson, both in land size and population.

According to the Kentucky State Police Post 6 in Dry Ridge, KY., in Grant County, they responded to a house structure fire in Robertson County on Sunday, January 7, at 3:29 P.M., on Oak Ridge Road. Upon troopers arrival at the scene, information was obtained stating there may be one or more individuals inside the residence.

Numerous fire department personnel at the scene were unable to make entry into the residence due to the intensity of the fire.

At approximately 9:00 P.M., entry was made into the residence and three adults were located. Two of the adults appeared to have sustained gunshot wounds and a third adult appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Troopers reported that a family including two men and a woman lived at the home.

KSP Post 6 stated that no names were being released for now due to out-of-state family members needing to be notified.

This case remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Detectives at Post 6–Dry Ridge. KSP Post 6 was assisted at the scene by Robertson County Fire Department, Mayslick Fire Department, Lewisburg Fire Department, Nicholas County EMS, and the Robertson County Coroner’s Office.

ANONYMOUS NEIGHBORS PROVIDE SOME ADDITIONAL INFO TO MEDIA OUTLETS

A neighbor who did not want to be identified provided a cell phone video of the fire to regional media. The person said that they noticed the fire after hearing what sounded like gunshots or fireworks.

Other neighbors of the deceased victims said the family moved to Kentucky from New York, and that they had built their home about three years ago. The neighbors also said it was an elderly couple who lived there with their adult son. A witness claimed in an interview they know who fired the gun, and who intentionally set the house on fire. However, the Kentucky State Police has not confirmed that information.
