Country Christmas Gave Away More Than Gifts

Christ Temple Church and Love Joy Ministries recently held their 11th annual Country Christmas on December 2, 2023, at the Lawrence County Community Center.  According to Patricia Kincaid, who helps oversee the event, more than 300 people came through the doors.

From the moment you entered, you were greeted by friendly volunteers who welcomed you in.  This friendliness and holiday spirit was found at every turn.  The churches, businesses, and organizations that had a booth at the event were giving away toys, crafts, cold weather items, food, and so much more.

Children were invited to grab a bag and collect their items as they walked from booth to booth throughout the community center.  Children of all ages could be found admiring the beautiful Christmas tree displays that were decorated by the churches or organizations that were there or watching the puppet show.  Children had the opportunity to see Santa and Mrs. Claus, who gave each and every child a gift.  There was live singing to help put you in the Christmas mood as people sang along with Christmas carols.  As you made your way through the booths, you were met at the end with a free meal.

I spoke to several event goers who shared the same sentiment.  They were thankful that there was an event like this for the community.  They were glad that there was a family event that they could attend and bring their children to for free! One person that I spoke with said that she didn’t even know this event had happened in previous years, but she plans on coming from now on.  Another said, “…this was such a nice thing for the church to do considering that a lot of people are having a tough time lately.  This was a perfect way to give back and spread some Christmas joy.”  And the joy was apparent and could be seen on the faces of the many children, and adults alike, who were there.

Mrs. Kincaid said that she loves putting on this event and she is grateful for the church and Love Joy Ministries for their contributions and continued support.  She also said the event wouldn’t be possible without all the volunteers who helped out or without the churches and organizations who participated.  She encourages people to be on the lookout for the event next year and to bring your family for some Christmas fun.

Did this organization realize that they gave away things to known drug dealers and local thieves within the county?
