DISGRACED INDICTED CHILD SEX ABUSE SUSPECT NOW FACES SECOND INDICTMENT IN SECOND COUNTY: ANTHONY B. TAULBEE, 48, OF SALYERSVILLE, KENTUCKY.

A Magoffin County former Kentucky State Police captain who was charged with rape and sex abuse in Magoffin County earlier this year has now been indicted in a second case in Johnson County.

According to Johnson County Court documents, Anthony B. Taulbee, 48, of Middle Fork Road, of Salyersville, KY., who has been also identified as a former employee of Magoffin County Schools system and the Kentucky Department of Corrections, is now charged with two counts of third-degree rape and one count of third-degree sodomy in the new case.

Law enforcement officials close to the Johnson County case have said it arose out of electronic evidence in the Magoffin County case.

The new indictment alleges that Anthony Taulbee had sexual contact with a 17-year-old on May 21, and also May 22, 2018, at the time of the incidents while being in a “position of authority” over the minor victim, whom the indictment said he came into contact with as a result of that position.

The charges in Magoffin County involve allegations that Taulbee had sexual contact with a person younger than 18 back in 2018.

THE JULY 19, 2023 MUGSHOT OF ANTHONY TAULBEE, ON CHARGES FROM HIS ORIGINAL CHILD SEX ABUSE CASE IN MAGOFFIN COUNTY.

At the time of Anthony Taulbee’s original arrest in July 2023, the Magoffin County Schools District acknowledged that Anthony Taulbee was an employee of the district and that he had been suspended without pay as of February 2022.

“We have been made aware of the charges filed against Mr. Taulbee. Mr. Taulbee has been suspended without pay from Magoffin County Schools since February 2022. We will monitor this situation and act according to statute. We will always keep our students’ safety and best interest as our main priority,” the district said in a statement.

The Kentucky Department of Corrections stated that the incident did not take place at a Department of Corrections facility and that the department was taking corrective actions against  Anthony Taulbee.

Anthony Taulbee was arrested and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center on Friday, November 24, at around 5 P.M., and that he  was able to post his $5,000 bail and was released four hours later at around 9 P.M.

Anthony Taulbee is set to be arraigned in Johnson County Circuit Court on Friday, December 8.

All of the charges that Anthony Taulbee faces in both Johnson County and Magoffin County are Class D felonies, punishable by one (1) to five (5) years in prison and fines of no more than $10,000 on each of the charges.
