THE SEASON OF GRATITUDE

As the 2023 interim wraps up and committee meetings wind down, we’re on the doorstep of the holiday season. With the election in the rear view, there’s a shared exhale, making room for the joy this time of year brings.
I value this season, back in my district, with family, loved ones, and connecting with constituents. It’s a time when the real sense of community thrives, and I’m grateful for the chance to share these moments.
Amid Thanksgiving, let’s not forget those in need, especially with winter approaching. Reach out to local food banks, making a difference in the lives of neighbors facing hardship.
Remember those in the military this Thanksgiving, serving our country and often away from their loved ones. Their sacrifices embody the values we hold dear.
I take pride in the recent accomplishments of the Republican-led legislature, committed to advancing the commonwealth, no matter who’s in the governor’s office.
As we gather for meals, football, or simple moments, let’s briefly set aside political differences. Reflect on the faith that sustains us; strength is rooted in humility. Regardless of affiliations, we share the pursuit of a better future for our commonwealth.

Senator Phillip Wheeler, R-Pikeville, represents Kentucky’s 31st Senate District, including Elliott, Johnson, Lawrence, Martin, and Pike Counties. Wheeler is a member of the Interim Joint Committees on Economic Development and Workforce Investment; Transportation; Natural Resources and Energy; Judiciary; Tourism, Small Business and Information Technology, and State Government.
