Coalfield Development sponsored a Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, October 27, 2023.  The event was held in Fort Gay on the lawn of the old For Gay High School (which is currently being revitalized by the Coalfield Development group.  The event was free for the community.

Mayor Joetta Hatfield stated that this was the biggest Trunk or Treat that has ever been hosted in Fort Gay.  There were an estimated 500 people of all ages in attendance.  The festivities included a costume contest for every age group, music performed by Chocolate 4 Wheeler band, food, and candy.  Over 400 slices of pizza, along with chips, apples, and water, were served to those who came.  Pounds and pounds of candy were passed out by several organizations, groups, vendors, and by individuals as well.  In addition, there were three big blowups that all the kids loved.

Mayor Hatfield said, “Coalfield Development spared no cost for putting on this event for our Fort Gay Community and we are very grateful.”  She is already looking forward to next year and making it an even bigger and better trunk or treat event.

Mayor Hatfield wanted to thank everyone who helped put on the event, as well as those who came and had a good time!
