Fort Gay, W. Va. — Tolsia ( 2-4 ) suffered it’s first home loss of the year as #10 Tyler Consolidated ( 6-0 ) remained undefeated with a 42-32 victory Friday on Homecoming night at the Wilts Salmons Athletic Complex.

Tyler Consolidated dented the scoreboard first on a Brady Strode to Zade Billings 24 yard touchdown and Nate Deaton added the PAT for a 7-0 Silver Knights lead with 9:50 left in the first quarter.

After forcing a punt the Rebels got in the scoreboard with an electrifying 70 yard punt return touchdown from Parker Watts to make it 7-6 with 5:37 left in the first quarter.

The Silver Knights added to their lead as Cayden Hall scored from a yard out and a Deaton PAT made it 14-6 with 1:27 left in the first period.

After a Tolsia punt Tyler Consolidated went to the air but Watts intercepted the ball in the end zone but then fumbled at the 3 yard line on the return and the Silver Knights took over at the three yard line and Sean Winfrey scored on the next and Strode hit Tristen Tuttle for the two point conversion and it was TC 22-6 with 10:30 left before half.

Tolsia QB Robert Evans went untouched for a 20 yard touchdown to cut into the lead and make it 22-12 with 7:30 left before halftime.

The Silver Knights added to their lead when Strode found Reese Davis for a 27 yard touchdown pass to make it 28-12 with 4:21 left before halftime.

Tolsia answered right back when Evans hit a streaking Watts for a  58 yard touchdown and it was 28-18 with 2:56 left in the first half.

After forcing a three and out Evans connected with Watts once again this time on a beautiful 63 yard pitch and catch and Evans added the two point conversion to make it 28-26 Tyler Consolidated with 2:09 left in the second quarter.

After Evans recovered a fumble on a bad snap the Rebels had a chance to take the lead before halftime but the Silver Knights defense held the out of the end zone to preserve a 28-26 lead at Halftime.

In the third quarter Sean Winfrey added to the TC lead with an 8 yard touchdown and Deaton added the PAT for a 35-26 lead with 7:25 left in the period.

Levi Parsley had a fumble recovery to stop a Silver Knight drive but the offense couldn’t get anything going.

Later in the third Strode connected with Davis on a 29 yard touchdown and Deaton tacked on the PAT for a 42-26 lead with 1:53 left in the third.

On the First play of the 4th quarter Evans hit Watts in stride for a 64 yard touchdown to make it 42-32 Tyler Consolidated with 11:50 left in the game.

Tolsia Head Coach David Thompson

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… So proud of my kids tonight, the last couple of weeks have been tough and we knew it was going to be. Seems like in both ballgames every time we would get something going we would shoot ourselves in the foot. One step forward and two steps back and that is so hard to overcome against good football teams like Tug Valley and Tyler Consolidated.”

“… We have to be better on our two point conversions, we left eight points out there tonight and that is simply not good enough. We got a bunch of big plays but can’t punch it in from two or three yards out is really frustrating as a coach.”

“… One thing I can say about this bunch is that will continue to battle and play hard. We knew this was going to be a tough stretch and now we got four games left to see what we are made of. We will get back to work next week and play a Buffalo team that will be hungry when they come here next week.”
