DR. FEELGOOD…NOT; AND HER CRIMINAL SIDEKICK: AN EX-PHYSICIAN, CRYSTAL COMPTON (PHOTO  LEFT), 43, OF PIKEVILLE KY., & EX-NURSE, KAYLA LAMBERT (PHOTO RIGHT), 36, OF REGINA, KY., WERE FOUND GUILTY IN A FEDERAL TRIAL INVOLVING ILLEGALLY DISTRIBUTING PRESCRIPTION DRUGS IN FLOYD COUNTY & PIKE COUNTY.

A former doctor and nurse who practiced in Pike County and Floyd County have been found guilty on Thursday, September 21, of a large number of federal charges related to a conspiracy to illegally distribute prescription drugs, following a seven-day trial in U.S. federal court in Pikeville, Kentucky.

Crystal Compton, 43, of Pikeville, KY., a former doctor whose practice was based in Pikeville, and has been affiliated with Eastern Kentucky Medical Group, Betsy Layne Primary Care, and The Good Doctor. Kayla Lambert, 36, of Regina, KY., was a registered nurse working in Crystal Compton’s medical practices. Both Crystal Compton and Kayla Lambert were indicted by a federal grand jury in April of 2022.

Both women were found guilty of conspiracy to unlawfully distribute drugs and conspiracy to use the DEA registration of another person. Those charges carry maximum sentences of four years.

Crystal Compton was also found guilty of 35 counts of unlawfully distributing Schedule IV drugs such as oxycodone, hydrocodone and methadone, as well as nine counts of unlawfully distributing Schedule II drugs such as Xanax, Klonopin, Soma and Ambien. The Schedule II drug violation charges carry a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, while the Schedule IV drug violation charges are punishable by up to five years.

Kayla Lambert was however found not guilty of four counts of actually using another person’s DEA registration.

Both Crystal Compton and Kayla Lambert were taken into custody by U.S. Marshals following their trial and were lodged in the Pike County Detention in Pikeville. Crystal Compton was released on a bond and placed on home confinement on Friday, September 22, while Kayla Lambert is still lodged in jail.

The two women are scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.
