This was the 2nd annual tournament. It was called the Bicentennial Open last year in honor of the county’s bicentennial. So they changed to a new name this year honoring the highway that connects us all and the major pro tournament in New York.

There were several different divisions offered to players of all ages, genders and skill levels. Players came from Pikeville, Knott county, and Huntington as well as local players. They are part of the Appalachian Tennis Series (they have a page on Facebook, as do we.)

Joey McClanahan

 COACH’S COMMENTS

“… With the help of our local sponsors, Louisa Drug Store, Taco Bell, Giovanni’s, and Dee’s, we were able to raise over $1800 for the Lawrence County Boys and Girls Tennis teams! I would like to thank these local businesses for supporting Bulldog Tennis!”
