Louisa, Ky. —  It was the first soccer game played on the new turf at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Stadium and boy was it memorable as the Lawrence Co. Boys ( 2-1 ) defeated Belfry 6-0 on Thursday.

Senior Blake Maynard scored all six goals in the monumental victory over the Pirates who dropped to 2-3 on the season. 

Junior Andrew Vinson had two assists, Senior Micheal Preston, Junior Gavin Wells and Sophomore Owen Pack and one assist each. 

Junior Ryland Brady was in goal and had three saves for the Bulldogs.

On Tuesday the SoccerDawgs took care of Pikeville 7-1 at the LC Soccer Complex. 

Lawrence Co. is 2-0 in 58th District action so far.

They will return to action on Monday night with a 15th region contest at Johnson Central at 6:00 before hosting a Class 2A Section 8 tournament game versus Boyd Co. at 8:00.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… The turf was fast!  It was a great environment and I think the team enjoyed the change in venue. The boys really covered the ground well and the surface helped us to move the ball around smoothly.”

“… It was a good second week after a tough loss to Russell. The boys are getting things figured out.”
