Louisa, Ky. — Two rising 8th graders from Lawrence Co. Brayden Davis and Grey Derifield play for the number one ranked USAAA Double A Baseball team in Kentucky the 13U East Ky Revolution.

Lawrence Co. middle schoolers Grey Derifield and Brayden Davis have both been instrumental and helping the East Ky Revolution to a 14-4-1 record this Summer.

The East KY Revolution 13U squad played 10 games in the Tennessee AA World Series in Kingsport recently and fought their way to the championship game against NRV Tigers out of Virginia and the local kids had to beat them twice to capture the title.

In the first game the Revolution won 12-2 in mercy rule fashion before falling in the second game 10-8 in their fifth game of the day to finish Runner-up.

The youngsters beat the Huntington Hounds 10-8 before beating the #1 Team in USSAA AA in the nation Tennessee Select 10-0.

The team went 7-3 on the weekend and scored 92 runs and collected 106 hits.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… Every weekend that we play our defense is always on point even though we move kids around the field. And they never know where you’re playing from week to week. Our bats ain’t always on – but this weekend we came to hit and it was doubles to the gap all weekend. We had 106 hits this weekend total. Our pitching was keeping us in games and allowed us to compete with any team in the tournament. We got everything we asked of the boys this weekend. We pitched 7 players and 2 more who were catchers, plus Logan Slone is just coming back from his knee injury.”

“… To see these boys fight for 10 games was unbelievable. I knew we had some of the best middle school ball players around, but after seeing them fight I can’t wait to see what these boys do in life and glad I got to be a part of it.”
