DEADLY CASE HAPPENED LATE IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE WEEKEND AT THE HOME OF THE CHILD’S MOTHER, WHO WAS THE GIRLFRIEND OF THE MURDER SUSPECT

NOT HUMAN, BUT AN EVIL ANIMAL: JORDAN BLAKE TAYLOR, 22, OF CORBIN, KY., LOCATED IN WHITLEY COUNTY, WAS ARRESTED BY STATE POLICE AND WAS CHARGED WITH FIRST-DEGREE MURDER FOR THE KILLING OF HIS GIRLFRIEND’S THREE-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER, AMOURA SMALLWOOD.
A Whitley County man was arrested by state police after law enforcement officials said he was responsible for the death of a very young child, who had signs of various states of injuries on her body, which indicated she had been a victim of abuse for a significant period of time.
According to a press release statement, on Sunday, February 19,2023 at 5:30 P.M., Kentucky State Police Post 11, in London, KY., in Whitley County; was contacted by the Whitley County Sheriff Office requesting assistance with a death investigation involving a 3-year-old child in the Woodbine community area of Whitley County.
A preliminary investigation revealed Whitley County EMS responded to a residence where a 3-year-old child was unresponsive. The child was transported by EMS to Baptist Health Corbin where the child was pronounced deceased by the Whitley County Coroner’s Office. An autopsy is scheduled in Frankfort at the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
Jordan Blake Taylor, 22, of Corbin,KY.,was arrested and was charged with 1 count of *MURDER, 1ST DEGREE. He is currently being held in the Whitley County Detention Center in Williamsburg, KY. on a $250,000 full cash bond. Jordan Blake Taylor was arraigned in Whitley County District Court on Monday morning, and he is scheduled to appear again in Whitley County District Court for a preliminary hearing on February 27 at 9:00 A.M.
Whitley County court documents showed that Jordan Blake Taylor was the boyfriend of the child’s mother.
Whitley County Sheriff Bill Elliotte said Jordan Blake Taylor’s explanation for the child’s injuries as being accidental wasn’t consistent with what they saw.
“There were bruises on all areas of the body, not just one area,” said Sheriff Bill Elliotte. “They were in different stages of healing. The bruises ranged from the child’s head to her feet,” Sheriff Elliotte said.
KSP Post 11 Detective Logan Gay is continuing the investigation. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Post 11 personnel, Whitley County Sheriff Office, Whitley County EMS, Corbin Police Department, and the Whitley County Coroner’s Office.
