Shooting case closed…

Jerry Lee Maynard was 45 years old

LOUISA, KY. — Lawrence County Commonwealth’s Attorney Tony Skeans announced today that the investigation into the fatal shooting of a man at Peach Orchard last August is over and that a Lawrence Co. Grand Jury had failed to return a true bill after listening to evidence in the case. 45 year-old Jerry Lee Maynard was shot by property owner Tyler Brown.

“The Grand Jury heard the investigation this morning (Thursday) and returned a NTB (No True Bill),” Skeans said. “I consider the investigation closed now as to that fatality.” He refused to give any further details of the shooting and said to contact sheriff Chuck Jackson.

Sheriff Jackson has made no statement on the incident so far
Keefer

Jackson could not be reached for comment.

Jackson’s deputy Mason Keefer is considered the lead investigator. He went to the location before the shooting one time and made no arrests or other action. The deputy was called to another case but had to return to Peach Orchard after the shooting took place five hours later.

“At this time the investigation is very much on-going and not complete,” Skeans told The Lazer two months later… “Talking with Sheriff Jackson it was determined that releasing information on any of the people of interest could jeopardize/complicate the investigation.”

There were apparently no witnesses to the shooting except the shooter.

“Upon completion of the investigation I am sure he (Sheriff) will release the information you seek, no later than the presentation to the Grand Jury though,” Skeans told TheLevisaLazer.com.

But information has not been released in the case.

Skeans said he has no idea why there has been no coroner’s report. “As it relates to the Coroner (Heston), I have had no contact with him on this matter.”

Family members of Maynard and Green Ramey, who was arrested and charged with burglary in the case, say the two went to Peach Orchard to retrieve property they owned but went to the wrong location and the incident took place.

Skeans called the death Investigation “LCSO in re Tyler Brown and Jerry Lee Maynard” and when asked, did not deny the shooter in the case was Tyler Brown. No further information about the incident which took place August 16, 2022 is expected.

Tony, I’ve known you since you were a child. I also knew your dad Floyd. He paid to have my 1st cousin murdered. I doubt you know that, but it did happen at the TCT station on 23 south in 1978. Chester was borderline down syndrome, but he saved your dads “business partner” from burning to death in the brick house across from the gambling house/restaurant on Hokiday inn hill. The guy he saved was at his funeral, Floyd wasn’t.

Interesting. Hey Charles, is there anywhere I can read more about this?

Sally to the best of my recollection the entire story is online. I think the title is “The murder of Chester Porter in Floyd County KY 1978”, or something very similar. Although I remember the event, I also read the story online. It is very detailed and accurate description of the complete investigation, the suspects arrest and imprisonment. Floyd Skeans is never mentioned, however. My first cousin was stabbed 39 times in the back and neck working at the TCT gas station, on the property where the house was, the station was owned but not operated by Floyd Skeans. More than one was involved in the murder, but only one was sent to prison to be released 4 years later. $800 dollars was left in Chesters’s billfold, and part of the money was taken from cash register, AKA a staged robbery. I called the KSP cold case division in London KY around 2007, nothing ever came of that.

Thank you Charles. I’ll try to find that website.

I meant to say, Holliday Inn hill. Tony, I doubt you have any knowledge of any of this, and it doesn’t involve you. The story can be found on the internet as “The murder of Chester Porter” Floyd County KY. Toney Barell was sent to prison for 4 years, but released on a trial error. This really happened, for all the wrong reasons! I am sorry for you,

I was gone for a year and another 10 won’t bother me. I told a VERY truthful story, although it doesn’t apply to the story at hand. Sally ask me a question, I tried to give her a website that apparently isn’t going to be posted. Mark do you just print acceptable news and/or stories that are based on the truth, or are you afraid to offend the rich and powerful ? Perhaps I spelled something wrong?…I DONT GIVE A ROSEY RED RATS ASS!!!!!

Don’t recollect censoring you, I usually post your comments as you know. But if I deem one not appropriate of course I’ll reject it. I’m not on eaither side. Keep that in mind from now on.

Charley what about your MAGA Buddies wanting to do away with all Federal, Payroll, and Corporate taxes and go to a 25% National Sales Tax. Is that a Lie
