MORE THAN 500 STUDENTS AND STAFF AT MARTIN COUNTY COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL HAD TO BE EVACUATED JUST AFTER NOON TODAY BECAUSE OF A BOMB THREAT, SHERIFF JOHN H. KIRK SAID.

THE BOMB THREAT CAME IN AND THE FIRE ALARMS WERE ACTIVATED AT 12:05 pm

Martin Co. Sheriff John H. Kirk…

1:00 pm WEDNESDAY JANUARY 11, 2923

“…The Martin Co. Sheriff’s Dept, Kentucky State Police, and members of the Martin Co. Board of Education are currently onsite at the Martin Co. High School investigating what 911 Dispatch has perceived to be a call of a bomb threat.

Students that drive to school have been dismissed for the day and the rest of the students have been bussed to Inez Elementary School, where parents may pick them up now if they wish to do so. Any remaining students will be bussed home at the end of the day.

KSP has a bomb detection dog in route. We are taking this matter seriously and every precaution has been taken to ensure the safety of students and staff.

We will update as more information is available.
