Bulldog Senior Kensley Feltner leading state in scoring; Bulldogs Heading South after Christmas

Lexington, Ky. — Lawrence Co. Girls basketball went 1-2 in the White, Greer and Maggard Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic High school this past week.

The Bulldogs are 6-3 on the season and Senior Kensley Feltner  who is a Kentucky Miss Basketball candidate is leading the state in scoring at 27.4 points per game.

Henry Clay 63 Lawrence Co. 57 ( Tuesday ) 

Kensley Feltner led the Bulldogs with 33 points, Sophie Adkins tallied 9 points, Leandra Curnutte added 6 points, Abby Nelson scored 4 points, Abby Maynard 3 points and Kaison Ward chipped in with 2 points. 

Lawrence Co. hit 3 three pointers and went 10 of 15 from the foul line. 

Lawrence Co. 62 Menifee Co. 56 ( Sunday ) 

Kensley Feltner poured in 29 points to lead the Bulldogs, Sophie Adkins tallied 12 points, Kaison Ward added 11 points, Leandra Curnutte netted 8 points and Abby Nelson chipped in with 2 points. 

Lawrence Co. hit 3 three pointers and went 15 of 22 from the free throw line. 

The Bulldogs will head to South Carolina on Tuesday. 

Frederick Douglass 90 Lawrence Co. 61 ( Saturday ) 

Kensley Feltner had 39 points in the opening game of the tournament, Sophie Adkins added 11 points, Abby Nelson tallied 4 points, Kaison Ward chipped in with 3 points, Leandra Curnutte and Jada Patton had 2 points each. 

The Dawgs hit 2 three pointers and went 11 of 14 from the foul line. 

The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday December 28th in the Carolina Invitational versus T. L. Hanna High school out of Anderson, South Carolina at 4:00.

“… Going to Lexington was a good experience for our girls. We played some really tough competition that exposed weaknesses we still need to work on. That’s what we wanted from these games was to help us get better.” 

“… We’re looking forward to going to Charleston, SC and playing some really good competition. We loved the tournament last year and we’re excited to head back there next week.”
