LOUISVILLE, Ky. (August 16, 2022) — The Kentucky State Fair announced First Responder’s Day will be held Sunday, August 28. Active first responders and their families receive free admission on that day with valid proof of employment. There is a four-pass limit and parking is not included. Discounted midway wristbands also will be available on-site.

“With the addition of many new areas including Rescue Ridge, the 9/11 NEVER FORGET exhibit, and Kentucky Fire & Rescue, we found it especially important this year to welcome those who ensure our safety and come to our aid. The work they do in our communities across the Commonwealth is essential and irreplaceable. It’s the least we can do to say thank you for their heroic service and honor those lives lost to the tragic events on September 11, 2001,” said David S. Beck, President and CEO of Kentucky Venues.

On Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 1:30 p.m. first responders including Louisville Fire Department, Jefferson County Sheriff Department and Kentucky State Fair Board Police will escort the 9/11 NEVER FORGET exhibit from the Kentucky International Convention Center (KICC) to the Kentucky Exposition Center where it will remain for the duration of the Kentucky State Fair.

This Interactive mobile exhibit honors the heroes and victims of 9/11. Artifacts including steel beams from the World Trade Center, documentary videos and recordings of first responder transmissions will be displayed.

In addition to free admission, Thrill Ville wristbands will be discounted 20% off and available on-site only at the Kissel Welcome Center. Must show valid proof of employment and have all family members with them at the time of purchase. Limit 6 wristbands.

Advanced tickets are still available online which allow access any of the 11 days and includes free parking. Admission at the gate is $10 per person and $10 parking per vehicle.

The 2022 Kentucky State Fair is Aug. 18-28 at the Kentucky Exposition Center. For more information, visit www.kystatefair.org. Find the Fair on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Editor’s Note: A press conference and unveiling of the 9/11 NEVER FORGET exhibit will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the South Wing A Parking Lot following the arrival of the motorcade escort.
