60TH DISTRICT BB PREVIEW; TOURNEY BEGINS MONDAY AT LAWRENCE CO.,.

Louisa, Ky. —  For the first time since 2010 a District Tournament will be played at Lawrence Co. High school. After re-alignment with Lawrence Co. moving to the 58th District next year they were chosen to host the tournament this year. The Bulldogs are looking for a ‘three-peat’ on the Boys side and Belfry is looking to win the Girls side for the third straight season.

 

LAWRENCE BOYS TAKE ON PHELPS IN FIRST GAME

On Monday night the 60th District Boys and Girls basketball tournament will begin. Both of the host teams will be in action with tipoff set for 6:30.

The nation’s leading scorer Tim Dalton will be in action Monday night at home when 60th District Tournament play begins.

In the 60th District Boys tournament Lawrence Co. ( 19-11 ) will be the #1 seed thanks to a 5-1 record in regular season play.

The Dawgs will open vs #4 Phelps (14-16) at 8:15 Monday night. LC won both meetings in the regular season. The Bulldogs are led by the nation’s leading scorer at 38.1 ppg, senior Tim Dalton.

The supporting cast consists of 8th Grader Jared Wellman, who is scoring 14.6 ppg, Junior Trey Dotson 8.1 ppg, Freshman Tyler Maynard 6.0 and Senior Cameron Maynard 3.0 round out the starting five.

Phelps who finished 1-5 in District play are led by Christian Mounts at 23 points per game.

On Wednesday at 8:15 it will be #2 Belfry ( 13-16 ) 4-2 in District action taking on #3 Pike Co. Central ( 16-14) 2-4 in District play. The teams split the two regular season meetings. The Pirates are led by Isiah Roblee at 14 points per game, Koleston Blankenship and Cameron Catron at 10 points per game. The Hawks are led by Ryan Eads at 14 per game, Seth Conn and Blake Wallace at 13 per game.

Championship game will be Friday night at 8:15.

LC GIRLS FACE #1 BELFRY IN TOURNEY OPENER

Lexie Ratliff will lead the Lady Dawgs into postseason play riding a two game winning streak.
In the Girls 60th District Tournament it will be #4 Lawrence Co. (9-20) and 1-5 in District play vs #1 Belfry (15-13) and 6-0 in District play in the opening game at 6:30 Monday night.

The Bulldogs are led by Freshman Lexie Ratliff at 16 ppg and Junior Hannah Rucker at 11 ppg.

Sophmore Kelly Davis 7 ppg, Freshman Kassidy Cavins and Sophomore Kylie Maynard add 4 ppg.

The Pirates, who took both regular season matchups with LC, are led by Olliena Hairston 13 ppg and Kailee Rash 12 ppg.

In the first game Wednesday night at 6:30 it will be # 2 Pike Co. Central (19-11) and 4-2 in District play and #3 Phelps (14-15) and 1-5 in District action. PCC took both games in regular season play and are led by Kaitlynn Keathley and Cassidy Mullins at 15 points per game. Phelps is led by Danielle Prater at 15 points per game.

Championship game will be at 6:30 Friday night.

In the Boys 57th District at Magoffin Co.

#1 Johnson Central ( 23-6 ) vs #4 Paintsville ( 8-19 ) at 7:00 Tuesday

#2 Sheldon Clark ( 19-11 ) at Magoffin Co. ( 17-10 ) 7:00 Wednesday

Finals Friday at 7:00

In the Boys 58th District at Betsy Layne

#1 Allen Central ( 13-17 ) at Betsy Layne ( 7-22 ) Monday 7:30

#2 South Floyd ( 18-12 ) vs Prestonsburg ( 7-23 ) Tuesday 7:30

Finals Friday 7:00

In the Boys 59th District at Pikeville

#1 Pikeville ( 19 -8 ) 2 Piarist ( 1-28 ) 0

#2 Shelby Valley ( 15-13 ) vs East Ridge ( 19-10 ) Wednesday at 8:00

Final Friday at 7:00

In the Girls 57th District at Magoffin Co.

#1 Paintsville ( 24-3 ) at Magoffin Co. ( 9-18 ) Monday at 6:00

#2 Johnson Central ( 24-6 ) vs Sheldon Clark ( 16-13 ) Monday at 7:30

Final Thursday at 7:00

 

In the Girls 58th District Betsy Layne

#1 South Floyd ( 23-7 ) vs Allen Central ( 8-22 ) Monday at 6:00

#2 Prestonsburg ( 8-21 ) at Betsy Layne ( 13-16 ) Tuesday at 6:00

Final Thursday at 7:00

 

In the Girls 60th District at Pikeville

#1 Shelby Valley ( 24-4 ) vs Piarist ( 3-23 ) Tuesday at 6:30

#2 Pikeville ( 19-7 ) vs East Ridge ( 11-17 ) Tuesday at 8:00

Final Thursday at 7:30
