By 7 p.m. Saturday, Kentucky Power restored power to more than 1,000 of 3,200 customers affected by today’s wind and rain. Crews are continuing to work tonight on outages, which mainly were caused by trees falling on lines and bringing down wire and poles. Winds reached nearly 60 mph this afternoon. A second wave is expected in the region tonight and could result in more outages, especially with saturated soil that could lead to additional fallen trees.
Most of the remaining outages are in Boyd, Carter, Greenup, Lawrence, and Letcher counties. We thank our customer for their patience as we work to restore service. Updates are posted online at kentuckypower.com/outages.
