TRIO QUICKLY ARRESTED  FOR BURGLARY THEFT OF FIREARMS IN MARTIN COUNTY

February 28, 2019 – written by WADE QUEEN

BAND OF THIEVES: PEGGY LEANN MAYNARD, STEVE C. BAILEY AND CRAIG MUELLER

Swift investigating action and teamwork between law enforcement agencies Tuesday in Martin County, Ky solved a burglary case in just under three hours.

On Tuesday afternoon, February 26, an Inez resident returned home to find his home had been broken into, and discovered he was missing two handguns and an AR-15 rifle.  The burglary victim notified Martin County Sheriff John Kirk, and he mentioned of seeing three people with backpacks walking near his home as he arrived.

After checking local businesses of their surveillance footage and searching the area, Martin County deputies along with Kentucky State Troopers located the three people inside the McDonalds in Inez.

The three burglary suspects were identified as 31 year old Steven C. Bailey of Pikeville, 37 year old Peggy Leann Maynard of Chattaroy, West Virginia, and 43 year old Craig Mueller of Inez; all were arrested after questioning led to all three admitting to being the ones who burglarized the home.

In addition, all 3 they led officers to the place where they stashed the weapons, and everything stolen was returned to the homeowner within 3 hours of the burglary.

All three perpetrators, Bailey, Maynard, and Mueller, were taken into custody by trooper Dustin Thompson of Kentucky State Police-Post 9-Pikeville, and were transported to and were lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville on 1ST DEGREE BURGLARY charges.

In addition, Peggy Leann Maynard was given an additional felony charge of: THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING OR DISPOSITION ALL OTHERS $500 OR MORE BUT UNDER/$10,000.

A “Machine Gun”???? Really? If you are that uneducated about firearms you do not need to be writing about it. An AR-15 is not a machine gun. SMH

Wonder if the submitted for the background check before they stole the weapons?? Isn’t that what all the lawmakers think the thieves do when they want to make everyone submit to a background check? Yea right, a thief will just steal a gun to commit other offences while the law abiding person has to subject themselves to every kind of questioning and background checks just to properly purchase a gun. Lawmakers have completely lost touch with everyday people!!!
