The City of Louisa is cracking down on fireworks with a legal ordinance as the Fourth of July holiday period approaches.

According to the Louisa Police Department, they state that as the Independence Day holiday approaches, they are asking city residents, county residents, and people coming from outside the local area, to please keep in mind that if you plan to have a fireworks display, that the City of Louisa now has a Fireworks ordinance.

Fireworks may be used on July 3rd and July 4th, from between 10:00 A.M., to until Midnight, and that any other displays or uses must file for a permit through the city clerk’s office and be approved by the fire chief and the mayor.

Applications MUST be submitted 15 days prior to the display or use of the fireworks. Violations of Ordinance #17-08 “Regulation of Fireworks in the City of Louisa” (that was passed in 2017) shall be fined $500.00.

If you have any questions please contact Louisa City Hall at 606-638-4050.

The City of Louisa will have their fireworks on Saturday, July 1 at 10;00 P.M.

I am so glad to hear this. I hope it’s enforced. For those of us with small children, sick elderly parents and pets who are afraid of fireworks this is great news.

There have already been several violations where I live. It’s pathetic the disregard that people have for rules. It’s a lawless city anyway. Some of us have to go to work and actually sleep at night. Not to mention veterans that have fought for this country don’t need to be listening to sounds similar of a war zone. Pathetic.
