MARTIN CO. SHERIFF INVESTIGATING SHOOTING ATTACK ON STORE IN INEZ
SHERIFF ASKING FOR HELP WITH INFORMATION TIPS FROM LOCAL CITIZENS BY OFFERING A MUTUAL REWARD WITH THE OWNERS OF THE DAMAGED BUSINESS
INEZ, KY. — The Martin County Sheriff Department is investigating a criminal act case, as well as offering part of a joint reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for shooting into a well known business in Martin County in the early morning hours of the weekend.
According to Martin County Sheriff John Kirk, several gunshots were fired into the Little Country Market grocery located on Old Route 3 North in Inez.
Deputies discovered four bullet holes in Little Country Market’s front windows. They said it likely happened Saturday morning between 2 A.M. and 5 A.M. on November 3.
“We don’t know if it’s just a random act or if they are actually being targeted,” Sheriff Kirk said.
Sheriff Kirk said the family who owns the business said they do not know of any enemies or reasons why someone would shoot at their store.
A $1,000 reward is offered for information that leads to the arrest of the person, or people, responsible the violent act. $500 of that reward is coming from Sheriff Kirk. The other $500 is coming from the owners of the Little Country Market.
“A lot of times, when it comes to money, you don’t have many friends. Hopefully someone will come forward with information,” Sheriff Kirk remarked in a sly manner.
Anyone with information to the shooting case at Little Country Market is asked to call the Martin County Sheriff Department at 606-298-2828 or the county Dispatch at 606-298-3211.
