“ What a weekend. It’s an honor to be part of this event. Hoops for Hope has become part of Louisa and has helped supplement funding for parks and recreation for our youth,” Louisa Mayor Harold Slone said. “Thanks to everyone who played a part in making this possible.”

The tournament was a 5 on 5 Double Elimination with 12 teams beginning play Saturday morning and finishing up Sunday evening and 120 players from Ohio, Virginia, Maryland, WV, Illinois, Michigan, and KY with at least 12 of those playing professional or semi pro ball.

Tourney Director Matt Brown

DIRECTOR’S COMMENTS

“… I continue to be amazed at all the community support for this tournament. The City of Louisa, businesses, churches, and individuals come together and rally around one common cause – to provide a safe, top-notch park facility for the youth of our region to play and stay out of trouble.”

“… Big thanks to all the volunteers, referees, players, and fans for making this year the best tournament yet.”

Former Harlem Globetrotter and D League Player Justin Coleman

PLAYERS COMMENT

“… Quote from Justin Coleman – Louisa Hoops for Hope is one of the best tournaments I play in. The competition is top notch and the hospitality of the folks putting on the tournament keeps us coming back. We love that it is organized and that there is good communication about game times, rules, etc. I’m already looking forward to next year.”

Winning team member Chris Early from KPMG

PLAYERS COMMENT

“…I want to thank Matt Brown and RISEabove for having the Hoops for Hope tournament each year. I really enjoy being apart of it each summer. Each year the competition has improved and the message has become stronger. I hope to continue to be apart of this event for many years to come.”
