THE 2017 GOLF LEAGUE IS UNDERWAY

The Eagle Ridge Golf League started on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at 5:30 PM. It was a beautiful day. The fairways have started to green, with most of the Bermuda grass’ dormant brown color leaving with the spring sun. These are the best fairways in the area. The greens are great, a little slow, but coming into shape. It was nice to see my friends that I hadn’t seen since last year’s banquet.

Participation is down this year, there has been injuries and surgery to some, others have decided not to participate, all of whom we will miss, but we still have a good number of players. Most are repeat participants, which gives a lot of credence to the fun of league play. The players who were in my group were winners of low gross and low net. Maybe I am good luck to the playing partners; it certainly did not show up in my scorecard.

The highlight of the first league play was the round of Troy Hughes. Troy had a gross score of 2 under par 34. This is quite a mark for so early in the season. Of course Troy is one of our three one handicap players. This is not so unusual for him. However, for me, it was a pleasure to watch.

League applications are still available at the pro shop. Stop by, fill out your application, and pay the $25 league fee. All monies are returned in prizes and include a free banquet dinner. If you have any questions, call Dan Preece (673-4190) or me (638-4308). Although the league has started, if anyone would like to join, it is still possible, and there will be no point penalty. The round can be made up.

Now for Tuesday night’s results…
