LAWRENCE COUNTY ARREST LIST – FEBRUARY 8-13, 2017

18 PEOPLE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN 4 DAY PERIOD, 16 OF THEM OF WHICH OCCURRED WITHIN A WINDOW TIME FRAME OF LESS THAN 33 HOURS.

Jack D. Smith, 43, of Inez, Kentucky;  appeared Friday, February 10, in Lawrence County circuit court, he is scheduled to go on trial for capital murder in a Martin County case where he is accused, along with  of killing two adults and an 8-year-old child.

The trial has been moved to Lawrence County and scheduled for later this year where, along with Amanda Bowen is accused of killing two adults and an 8-year-old child.

Smith’s defense team said a medical doctor found evidence of brain damage and other neurological problems. The Commonwealth Attorney’s office is requesting their own psychological and neurological evaluations.

State prosecutors say Smith, along with Bowen, shot and stabbed Tina Goble, her granddaughter Trinity Maynard, and Goble’s boyfriend Cannie Johnson, and then set their Martin County home on fire nearly three years ago.

Smith’s trial is set for May 1. Bowen’s is scheduled to begin April 17 in Johnson County, Kentucky.

 Randy T.L. JusticeRandy T. L. Justice, 38, of Louisa, turned himself in February 9, 2017, at 5:23 P.M., to the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, to serve a guilty plea weekend jail sentence with: • CONTEMPT OF COURT LIBEL/SLANDER RESISTANCE TO ORDER.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Herman BerryHerman Berry Jr., 54, of Fort Gay, West Virginia; was arrested on February 9, 2017, at 6:14 P.M., by patrolman officer Hunter James, of the Louisa Police Department, and was charged with: • FAILURE TO APPEAR (2 SEPARATE COUNTS).

 

 

 

 

Harlen Lee HarlessHarlen Lee Harless, 31, of Inez, Kentucky; was arrested on February 9, 2017, at 6:21 P.M., by patrolman officer Steven Wilburn, of the Louisa Police Department, and was charged with: • THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING OR DISPOSITION – SHOPLIFTING UNDER/$500.
