14 Women Graduate from Manufacturing Training Program

A group of local women have completed the Step Up for Women Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship run by West Virginia Women Work.

The graduates are:

Brittney Riley of Chesapeake, OH

Jessica Thompson of Huntington, WV

Jillian Elrod of Ona, WV

Kaylyn Bone of South Point, OH

Mary Beth Lawrence of Proctorville, OH

Ruth Clampitt of Huntington, WV

Sarah Craft of Ashland, KY

Sarah Schneider of Huntington, WV

Sarah Smith of Barboursville, WV

Summer Norman of Huntington, WV

Susan Hatfield of Huntington, WV

Sylvia Gibson of Proctorville, OH

  1. Craig of Huntington, WV

Trina Crump of Point Pleasant, WV

Eight of the graduates have also been offered jobs at tristate area manufacturing companies. Because manufacturing is considered and essential industry, they are working to keep America’s supply chain going during the COVID-19 crisis.

The Step Up program is offered at no cost to any women who are looking for a career. Average pay for graduates is $12-13 per hour with some grads earning $16 per hour. The next class is scheduled to begin in early June. To apply or learn more, visit wvwomenwork.org/stepupamp or facebook.com/stepupamp. Applications for the next cohort are available now.
